BOLA's work on the Windham Apartments began with the preparation of National Register and City of Seattle Landmark Nominations, and Federal Investment Tax Credit Certification Application for the developer/owner. Constructed in 1925, the Windham Apartments is an excellent and intact example of the efficiency apartment building type from Seattle's growth period of the 1920s. The current scope is rehabilitation of the building for affordable housing.

BOLA's design scope for the 37,300 sq. ft. building included documentation and evaluation of the building, including each of the 59 efficiency apartments; technical restoration specifications; and new kitchen designs. The units were upgraded with refinishing of interior plaster walls and wood floor refinishing; and the building was enhanced with lobby and window rehabilitation; an elevator upgrade, mechanical/electrical improvements; and exterior masonry and terra cotta cleaning and restoration. All work is being done in compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
